A ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structure) is a structure mounted on your tractors frame to protect the operator in the event that the tractor overturns. No one expects their tractor to overturn, and certainly no one wants that to happen. But the truth is, unforeseen hazards can cause your tractor to overturn without warning, leaving you seriously injured or possibly even killed. Running over rocks, tree stumps, and holes can cause your tractor to roll sideways before you can possibly react. Hills and slopes can cause side or rear overturns. Perhaps the greatest hazard of all is speed. As your speed increases, the likelihood that your tractor will overturn due to one of these other hazards is multiplied. If you double your speed, the chance of an overturn increases by a factor of four. In other words, if you increase your speed from five miles per hour to ten miles per hour, your tractor is four times as likely to overturn.
