Communications is sharing with others through many means and ways. There are numerous resources at bookstores and on the internet that can help you learn to communicate your message with other people. In the Indiana 4-H Youth Development Program we offer a few avenues to learn and build skills on communicating with others. The 4-H Project is named "Communications-Express Yourself" and is designed for students in grades 3-12. It can be self-study or utilized in small groups. There are three manuals and a Communications Helper's Guide. Conduct a 4-H Demonstration or Illustrated Talk is a 4-H activities that provides competition avenues and builds many life skills. This is much like a show how to and tell with visuals in front of an audience. Deliver a speech to an audience in the 4-H Public Speaking program around an annual theme topic. Conduct an Action Demo at your county Fair or project call-out night/day. An Action Demo is a teaching segment that you repeat to a passing audience inviting them to try this activity and learn for themselves.
