A program to teach children to work and play together
Talking With TJ is an educational program designed to improve the teamwork skills of second through fourth graders. The program uses a creative mix of videos and hands-on activities to teach skills. Series 1 on Teamwork skills prepares children to work and play together in more caring and cooperative ways. Managing conflict is the topic for Series 2, helping young people find non-violent ways to work out their differences with others.

Talking With TJ is designed to be used in clubs, camps, school enrichment, school-age child care programs, summer interest groups and other settings.

Objectives:
The program reinforces curriculum objectives related to teaching:

Series 1-Teamwork Skills:

  • making effective group plans,
  • appreciating differences and including people of diverse backgrounds in group activities, and
  • playing as a cooperative team.
  • Series 2 - Managing Conflict:

  • keeping anger under control,
  • respecting other people’s viewpoints, and
  • effectively communicating to resolve arguments.
  • Grade Level: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.
