Freezing main dishes

Refer to Freezing Guide for Prepared Foods in Level B: Bite 5 to find out how to freeze main dishes such as stews, spaghetti sauce with meat, and non-meat casseroles such as macaroni and cheese.

Remember that the flavors of certain seasonings, such as pepper, cloves, garlic, and onion grow stronger during storage.

To freeze casseroles and other main dishes, try these alternatives to using everyday baking dishes that may be needed for other meals. Use non-metallic wraps for acid foods, such as tomatoes. Refer to Freezer Smarts, member Activity 5a in Level D (page 36-37).
