Labo Summer Homestay

LABO SUMMER HOMESTAY PROGRAMS IN JAPAN

This program offers a great deal more than a trip to Japan.  Participants live with a local family and experience a world tourists never see.  They share everyday life and activities, and meet relatives and friends from the community.

When in the Exchange?

This four-week program runs from mid-July to mid-August, which coincides with the Japanese summer vacations from school.

4-H Endorses the Programs of Three Japanese Organizations

4-H endorses the programs of three Japanese organizations - Labo, Lex, and Utrek – all of whom share similar goals for youth.  The Japanese organizations work closely with

4-H in the development of program activities to assure a high quality educational experience for participants.  The programs all occur simultaneously; all include homestay and camp components.

The Program Includes:

• Round-trip international airfare from the West Coast to Tokyo and round-trip domestic airfare from your home state to your West Coast departure city
• A homestay with a Japanese family
• A short stay at a Japanese summer camp
• All costs within Japan including round-trip transportation to the host family and to camp, camp costs, all meals, orientation party, farewell gathering, last day activities, and more. 
• Adult chaperones for the entire trip.
• Medical insurance coverage.
• Orientation materials.
• Overnight departure briefing including accommodations, meals, and program costs.
• Year-round support program to ensure a high quality, educational, family-based exchange program.
• A contingency fund for emergencies
• $30 yen packet
• Departure tax.
